About This Book

Transcript of a series of 36 Radio programmes (each of 15-minute duration) broadcast on BBC Urdu Service in 1985. The subject of the documentary programmes was Grand Trunk Road (commonly known as G.T. Road). This important road was built by Afghan empheror of India, Sher Shah Soori. The 1500 mile long road stretches from Peshawar to Calcutta. Later the British rulers modified it to its present shape and route. Author Raza Ali Abdi travelled the entire length of the G.T. Road and recorded his observations about the cities through which the road passes and the people living there. A very interesting account of Indo-Pakistan civilization, culture and history narrated by an ace broadcaster.
