About This Book

16 plates, including 3 collotypes, 2 floor plans, and 11 photochromolithographs. "The collotypes are photographs of the building exterior and two interior views of the displays. The eleven chromos are of objects in the museum that have been drawn in watercolor by Indian students. W. Griggs first demonstrated and published his results in 1868. He wrote about his process in The Photographic News. During the 1870's-80's and 1890's he published a number of books using photolithography to copy rare manuscripts, books, and illustrations. He does not seem to have published his photochromolithographs using photographic images. The collotypes here are assumed to be by him." -- Hanson collection catalog, p. 122-123.
