A ladies' almanac, illustrating birds often found in an aviary. Different birds are described in each individual chapter in extensive natural history detail. Both the introduction and the individual descriptions contain some references to women and female anecdotes. Illustrations include parrots, parakeets, finches, hoopoes, nightingales, blackbirds and skylarks among others.
