Working with the records available , U.S. Army Brig. General Martin .D. Hardin , retired, late of the 12th regiment, writes this book containing information for several companies in the 12 Pa Inf. Division, “C” company , “F” Company and “I” Company , twelfth (‘D” 190 Penn). Published in 1890 , M.D. Hardin knew there were defects and incomplete records, But having been selected by the Regimental Association, to write a history, did to the best of his ability with the information he had.

From the forming of the Pennsylvania Reserve Volunteer Corps, Tennallytown, Camp Pierpont. Battles of Dranesville, Peninsula Campaign , Mechanicsville, Gainee’s Mill, Allen’s Farm. On to Malvern Hill , South Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, Bristoe Station and many others There are maps for most of camp or battles. The Muster Out rolls names ,where they fought, list of officers and enlisted men for the enlistment and discharge dates, other notes, Battles they were in. , as they were available to Brig, Gen, Martin D. Hardin.

There are biographies and miscellaneous page also including the General Martin D. Hardin, from Morgan County, Ill, John Henry Taggart, Colonel Richard Gustin, General Charles W. Diven, and several sergeant and privates.
