The Bible in a new age

Since Vatican II, many have been asking themselves such questions as: How are honest, historical and critical studies of the Bible to be reconciled with Catholic tradition? Does not scientific analysis, with its ruthless search for historical truth, endanger faith? The essays in this book try to answer such questions. They are meant to take all the main points in present-day discussion of biblical studies into account, and make clear the importance of biblical theology for the central theological field of study, dogma, and for the preservation and deepening of the Christian way of life.
