About This Book
"This volume summarizes the proceedings of the Second Gatlinburg Workshop on an Acceptable Nuclear Energy System. This workshop was a sequel to a similar one held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, in December 1976. Both were sponsored by the Institute for Energy Analysis (IEA) of Oak Ridge Associated Universities. Gatlinburg II had its origins in the aftermath of Three Mile Island. At Gatlinburg I, "fixing" nuclear energy was viewed by most representatives of industry as rather unnecesary. Three Mile Island made fixing nuclear energy a matter of real urgency. Gatlinbur II was expected to review progress toward this goal achieved since Gatlinburg I."
