Utility and information optimising algorithms in classification with applications to biogeography

Examines the various utility of classification theory, ranging from parsimonious taxonomic classification to utilitarian models from a philosophical to utilitarian application. Examines in depth the power variations of Gower information measures, including stability under bootstrap and jackknife simulations. A practical example is provided for the biogeography of west Indian bored distributions.
