About This Book

This was the first report published concerning Popenoe's archaeological research on the hilltop fortress, Tenampua, located in the Comayagua Valley of Honduras. Here, she mapped the site; described the walled precinct containing a ballcourt and temple; and excavated a complete Ulua Polychrome dish, now in the Museum of the Native American Indian (Smithsonian Institution). Based on the pottery, the site is related to Classic Period cultures from Honduras.
