1902 Jacobson - Paavola Families Photo Album

<div>Hardback decorative photo album. Front cover is smooth and raised, with a painting of a smiling young woman in the center. The photo album has a lock over the pages. The back cover is decorated with a colorful felt design. Inside, the pages are very thick cardboard with gold gilded edges. There is a large opening in the center of the pages for two photos to be placed back to back. Size: 8.5" x 10.5"<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>The inscription inside the front cover says, "from Lee Jacobson to Olga Jacobson, A Christmas Present Dec. 24th, 1901" (Leonder "Lee" Jacobson was Olga's father.) Olga was born in Knappton, WA in 1887.<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>The writing inside the back cover is a bit more complex. At the top it appears to be handwriting practice: "In 1492 the cow jumped over the moon/ In 1492 the / In 1492 the / In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue." Then in Finnish: "Jokainoa Hetkisulon Waan Tarkea elamasas siiskuhje niin et Wiimeinken ja na ilon peria ? aiset." We have loosely translated this message as: "Live well every moment then you can rejoice at the last." <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>An empty picture frame inside has the sentence: "I love you said Otto Jacobson." Otto was her brother, born in 1891.<br /></div>
