About This Book
Paul Ritts was one of the first TV directors at WFIL-TV, Channel 6 in Philadelphia in 1947. The next year, he joined the staff of WCAU-TV, Channel 10 as a producer and director. This book is his hysterically funny history of what happened during the earliest transition from radio to television, and captures every aspect of it, from the sublime to the ridiculous. The illustrations by Dick Strome are a hoot, and the foreward by Ed Sullivan helps complete the picture of what the television business was like in those days. A TV glossary at the end provides tongue-in-cheek definitions for every person, place and thing that was important in those early days.
