Edward Theodore Compton mountain artist (1849-1923) was born in England but at 25 moved to live in the Alps and (mostl;y) painted alpine scenes often mountain summits This book recorded an exhibition in Turin in 1993 organised by the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) He is also celebrated by the German and Austrian Alpine Clubs and is recognised as one of the leading exponents of this genre. He painted both oils and watercolours
