When Cynthia Davenport, a literature professor in an university begins to write a book in which the principle character depicts a mental condition, that creates gradually a cycle of small stories of fictitious relationships; the author decides to join a psychiatric institution as an inmate in order to research and understand the behavior of the woman of her creation.
