About This Book
Dr. William Gunton was born in 1791 at Aylasham, Norfolk County, England, the son of Thomas and Jane Mendham Gunton. His family immigrated to the United States in 1807 and settled at Georgetown, Distict of Columbia. He married Hester Livingstone Brown. They had six children. She died in 1839. When this book was written, Dr. Gunton was living in Washington, D.C., in his 88th year. Surviving children and gradchildren were living in the District of Columbia and New York.
