Rómulo Aguerre

A major work on noted photographer's intense and diverse photographic production, and for his pioneering contribution in the field of experimental abstract photography. His career began in 1950 and he won in 1954 the 1st Place Award International Competition of Photographic Art, Sao Paulo Brazil. began what would be a sustained research in order to abstract studies of photography, becoming an active part of intense creative movement of the sixties. Rómulo Aguerre was born in Montevideo on May 30, 1919 2 and lived the early years of is life in the mythical "Barrio Sur". Aguerre is a singular artist within the landscape of Uruguayan plastic arts, a pioneer of geometric abstract photography both in Uruguay and all over Latin America.
