About This Book

The intention of this paper is to re-evaluate the intellectual legacy of Herbert Marcuse, once an extremely influential, but today mostly forgotten critical-utopian thinker, fifty years after the first publication of The Man of One Dimension. It presents Marcuse's entire philosophy and genealogy of his thought, with an emphasis on the early works in which he bases his position, but also Marcuse's most significant challengers, such as MacInytre and Schoolman. In conclusion, the author considers the relevance and applicability of Marcuse's philosophy to today's social situation -- CROSBI website
