About This Book

"World leaders have in the recent years become increasingly interested in eradicatin the dehumanizing conditions of their nations through the United Nations' summits. At the Mllennium Summit in September 2000, heads of state adopted the United Nations' Millennium Declaration in committing their nations to a new global partnership in reducing extreme poverty and setting out a series of time-bound targets with a deadline of 2015, which have become known as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). This study has examined and shown through a narrative, descriptive and qualitative method how the Church is responding to the MDGs through the work of the Anglican Diocese of Northern Malawi on Likoma Island. The study has also discussed a theological justification for the Church's participation in the issues of development."--Page 2
