Dick Butson was the Medical Officer at Base E of The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey on Stonington Island, Graham Land, in 1947. This book, illustrated by several maps and many photographs, both in colour and black-and-white, is based almost entirely on a transcription of his diary. There is very little retrospective comment, although a few hindsight entries are apparent.
