"Vukoje's artistic work is based on her investigation of such political subjects as post-colonialism, gender and popular culture. She translates the resulting mixture of realities into a complex and yet simply accessible imagery. She has selected a somewhat analytical approach to questions of representation for her current works. Adopting the metaphorical subject of the scarecrow (Paul Klee, 1935) the title of the publication 'fuels 'n' frumps' borrows from the traditional genre painting of the representation of bodies and the objects surrounding them, whose disposition, materiality and drive are put up for discussion by the artist in such politically confusing times"--Publisher's website.
