About This Book
Relates the fate of the German Jewish pediatrician Karl Leven, who practiced medicine from 1931 in his hometown of Düren. From 1934 he was barred from working in the health insurance framework, and from 1938 he was no longer allowed to practice medicine. During the "Kristallnacht" pogrom, his office was demolished. His home was Aryanized and then transformed into a "Jewish house". In October 1941 he was deported with his wife and children to Aachen; in June 1942 they were deported to Sobibór, where they perished.
