Author Biography:
He was born May 22,1882 Monroe Township, Snider County, Penn, and died Dec 24, 1946 Lewisburg, Penn; He was a son of Joseph Hess and Amanda Hummel.
John was graduated from Bucnell University in 1909, and attended New York University . He first taught one year at the Keystone Academy, Factoryville, and then taught four years in the high scholl at Rahway, N.J. He moved to Morris High Scholl. New York City. as chemistry teacher, serving two decades in that capacity. For the nine years prios to this retirement in 1942, he served as principal of an Annex of that scholl. In all he taught 36 years.

John was a member of First Methodist Church at Mount Vernon,N.Y. and a president of the Bartholow Bible Class of the church school, one of the largest class groups in the country.

He Married with Hettie Matthews Bennett June 28,1910 at Winfield, Penn.

He was the father of Winifred, John, Elmer, Elsie Mae and Alice.

Alice is my mother, and is the only member of the family still alive in this moment.
