About This Book

"An integral part of the namesake exhibition resulting from Spanish curator Agustín Pérez Rubio's immersion into Videobrasil Collection artworks, the book features critical reviews of the 18 pieces in the exhibition, written by outstanding contemporary curators, critics and researchers. With contributions from the Brazilian anthropologist Lilia Schwarcz, the Argentinean curator Gabriela Salgado and the Spanish curator Octavio Zaya, among others, the publication also features an interview from Videobrasil's curator and director Solange Farkas to journalist Fabio Cypriano about the organization's collection and the strategies designed to activate it, plus an essay by German professor and researcher Andreas Huyssen about the culture of memory. Curator Agustín Pérez Rubio explains: "History as well as memories and recollections are part of the experience I had while diving in to the waters of the Videobrasil Collection for more than a year and a half [ ] having been the first to curator invited to carry out a project based on its more than three thousand pieces, including artwork, documents, records, television programs, and so on"--Page 25.
