The Penguin History of Britain (Allen Lane History)

Traces the time between the collapse of the Roman Empire in the West and the arrival of the Normans nearly seven centuries later. After the implosion of the Romano-British economy, all towns in Britain were abandoned, and Christianity, the religion of the Empire disappeared from much of Britain. At the same time, in the aftermath of collapse, immigrants and invaders came to settle across Britain.
