About This Book
It's a true story of the deposed raja of Coorg, Veerarajendra, and his daughter Gowramma, who were the first Indian royals to visit Victorian England in 1852. Both spent the rest of their lives there. Gowramma embraced Christianity, and Queen Victoria adopted the princess as her goddaughter. The Queen gave the name 'Victoria' to the young Indian princess. Queen Victoria was very keen on bringing about a matrimonial alliance between Princess Victoria Gowramma and another Indian royal Christian convert Maharaja Duleep Singh of Punjab.
