Cape archives and records

In a young country like South Africa, with records of a little more than two and a half centuries old, there is no reason why the administration of its archives should not be on the same level as that of European countries.Today we may start with a clear field and avoid the errors into which older countries have fallen. But this can only be done if there is a national consciousness of the value of our heritage, and a knowledge that it should be properly preserved and augmented for the use of present and future generation.
