For almost a century Schnitzler's letters to the friend of his youth who emigrated to the United States have been considered lost. Heinz P. Adamek has discovered and transcribed them. Thus, the complete correspondence is available for the first time. The editor's comments and explanations allow the reader to gain an insight into the thought and ways of living of the two famous friends and into the development of Vienna and New York into metropolises.
