"Ellerine sağlık (let your hands remain healthy) illuminates the repetition and quiet of the everyday chores and shared family life of the home. The book revolves around the figure of mother, or 'anne' in Turkish, and the photographs are from the home of the artist's Turkish mother-in-law, while the text oscillates between different subjects, times and places. The project was initiated as a response to the representation of Muslim culture as exotic and/or violent and full of conflict, constantly reoccurring in media"--Publisher's website.
