About This Book

The overall problem complex in this investigation pertains to the relationship between social Catholicism cum Protestantism and social systems ranging from capitalism to socialism. The results of the investigation indicate, however, that this relationship yields to the work on the definition and application of concepts such as social justice and economic efficiency. This can in certain specific situations require socialization, and in others lead to recommendation of capitalistic forms of production.

The demand for economic and social security and safety in the social order is balanced by the requirement of scope for initiative and creativity in the economic and social life. The one may not take precedence over the other. The arguments and the action contain distinct elements of both personal and public interest, and of both individualism and collectivism. The social Catholicism and Protestantism cannot be defined simply and unequivocally in their relationship to different social systems from socialism to capitalism during the Modern Age.

Their relation to diverse social systems is composite and complicated and the multidimensional essence of this relationship is determined by a number of variables. The problem consisted in creating an effective, free and just society, without the extremes of communism and capitalism.
