Fieldwork in developing countries

The authors discuss preparing for, participation in, and returning from fieldwork, then narrow the focus to specific methodological matters. In Part 2, eleven case studies, drawn from the authors' personal experiences, cover issues relating both to the conduct of research and to questions of lifestyle and interactions with the local community. The authors invariably present alternatives rather than prescriptions, hoping to excite critical thought on fieldwork method, as well as to suggest possible solutions to common problems.
