About This Book
The law of agrarian reform implemented in Peru by the government of Juan Velasco Alvarado (1968-1975) has had various repercussions not only in the political and economic sphere but also in the social and symbolic aspects. This book presents a set of stories of those who at the time worked for the Parcco hacienda, located in the district of Anchonga, province of Angaraes, department of Huancavelica. The book contains his current photographs, as well as stories about their daily lives on the hacienda and the actions they took when the agrarian reform was implemented. During the time of the hacienda, "the hacienda Parcco" had two main territories: Urin Parcco [Parco Bajo] and Hanan Parcco [Parco Alto], spaces that in the 1980s were recognized as the community of Buenos Aires Parco Chacapunco and the community of San José de Parco Alto, respectively. Now, narratively, they are united again to account for a part of their recent history and, thus, contribute not only to learn more about the political and social dynamics of the rural areas of Huancavelica, but also to contribute to the debate that will be sustained in the following years on the occasion of the commemoration of the fifty years of the agrarian reform in Peru.
