About This Book

Analytical texts that from different perspectives explore the relations between the arts - such as literature and the plastic arts - and the modern architecture and urbanism that developed in the city of Xalapa (Veracruz) during the 20th century, establishing a confluence between the avant-garde and the social revolution in the modernization of Mexico. General Heriberto Jara Corona (1879-1968) was the governor of the State of Veracruz from 1924 to 1927. He carried out major changes in the local arts and culture with an unrestricted support for the Art Movement Estidentrista, to the extent that the city of Xalapa was named "Estridentópolis".
