Zenken kojitsu

This is a compilation of some 750 illustrated short stories or historical personages from the mythological period through the fourteenth century. Originally an artist, Kikuchi specialized in drawing historical scenes and personages and was acclaimed as one of the leading artists in this particular field. The present work, which originally consisted of ten volumes, is said to have been presented to Emperor Komei in 1851.
