The Greek beginning

An introduction to Greece and the Greeks, covering the period from the Mycenaean Age in 1300 B.C. to the death of Alexander the Great in 323 B.C. It sets out the principal historical landmarks and presents some of the work of the most important Greek writers, philosophers, historians and politicians of the period. Burstall's conversations with Greek scholar Kenneth Dover are interspersed with photographs of ancient Greek sculpture, artifacts and ruins of ancient buildings.
