The history of the Muscatine North & South Railroad Company

This book covers the Muscatine North & South Railroad from its incorporation in 1893 through original line track laying in 1899, to reincorporation as the Muscatine, Burlington & Southern Railroad in 1916 until the line closed in 1924. The line was reincorporated as the Burlington, Muscatine & Northwestern Railway in 1925 and operated as a 5 mile branch line in Muscatine, Iowa until it was purchased by the Rock Island Railroad in 1947. A current map of Muscatine, Louisa and Des Moines Counties in eastern Iowa is also provided that is superimposed with the original MN&S route, but featuring current state and county road numbers so the reader can visit the actual sites.
