Asa Hearthrug, first introduced to us in The Barefoot Boy with Cheek, returns from the army and explores the promises of the brave new world of post war America. While the humor holds up extremely well considering it's over 65 years old, I'd still recommend first reading Barefoot Boy to familiarize yourself with some of the characters.
