About This Book
I actually wrote this novel when I was 22. It originally started as two separate short stories (that would later become chapter 1 and 2 of the final version) and I was trying to develop how life is for college students that move from small towns to large cities in order to have a career (which is what I did when I turned 17) but fortunatelly I had read some philosophers at the time and of course I had already published a couple of things and rode everything great published by latin writers from García Márquez to Cortázar to Saramago, so I extended and extended and ended up making a whole novel.
Nowadays, when I'm asked what this novel is about I usually give this answer: Is about cynicism. The school of thought of Diogenes of Sinope, the Greek philosopher, who spent his mature life naked and eating only what he could get from nature. The basic premise of cynicism is that you can and must find happiness in the small pleasures of life, and find greatness and success from the great feelings and experiencies, such as self aknowledgment, reflexion, introspection and free-thinking.
Two blue pills (or Dos Pildoras azules) tells four different stories of failure and success and the way the characters deal with those life events make up the story. Is a youth-oriented novel, with a bit of anger against the society that repels everything different but reacts with punishment when the rejected act in consequence.
