About This Book
Fredrik Tobin is a PhD candidate in Classical Archaeology and Ancient History at Uppsala University where he is expected to receive his degree in 2015. His research revolves around different aspects of Etruscan funerary practices, focusing on issues of tomb architecture and landscape. He directs the San Giovenale Tomb Survey project which in 2011-2014 has documented 290 tombs at the site San Giovenale, most of which have never been published before. In his dissertation he studies the spatial development of the necropoleis at the site using GIS, but also investigates the social implications of the existence of different architectural traditions of South Etruria. In addition to his research on tombs he has also published on the subject of music in Etruscan society.
