About This Book
Creole version with text in French, pages lxxxvii. Beautifully production. "For more than three years photographer Paolo Woods has been living in Les Cayes, a city in the south of Haiti. Paolo Woods works on the long-term. He settled in Les Cayes in November 2010 and has since focused on issues ranging from local industry to the ubiquity of the NGOs, the role of independent radio stations, and the aggressive inroads of American Protestantism. Over time, the fragility of the Nation State has become the underlying theme of his project. Working with Swiss journalist Arnaud Robert, he put together a project, STATE (LETA in creole), which questions the notion of STATE in Haitian society. The result of their work is an exhibition, an art installation and this book. This project is entirely produced in Haiti, from the printing of the photographs to the Creole language version of this book, especially created for the exhibition. The idea is to build a project from A to Z with the local actors.".
