About This Book
As of 1968, the Model Reporting Area (MRA) for Blindness Statistics was a voluntary association of 16 States, each maintaining its register of blind persons in a prescribed way. The data presented in this report were taken from the records in these registers on December 31, 1968 and the records removed from them during 1968. Model Reporting Area members in 1968: Connecticut, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia. Modeling reporting through the cooperation of the Biometrics Branch of the National Institute of Neurological Disease and Blindness, National Society for the Prevention of Blindness, the Foundation for the Blind, and the Division of Chronic Diseases of the Public Health Service.
