About This Book

In the first update since 1983 of this glossary from the American Library Association (ALA), over 600 definitions are updated along with the addition of almost 1,400 new terms. Most of these relate to the ever present changes in computer technology which required the addition of terms related to metadata, electronic resources and electronic workflow. Since new electronic resources have also updated work in all realms, significant changes were also made in the areas of licensing, assessment and reader's advisory.
