A true jewel of ficcional Brazilian Literature. A captivating story that takes the reader to an environment typical to the Brazilian "fazenda" of the first part of the 20 century and the "pecadillos" whithin a marriage supposely based in true love between a man and his too pure and innocent wife. I read this book some 40 years ago and would love to read it again.
