Pink wrote this book as an answer to what he saw as an impoverishment in church polity and individual spirituality brought on by the rise of freewill/arminian doctrine in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Certain versions omit chapters based on his later teachings; the edition released by Sovereign Grace Publishers is representative of the unexpurgated version.
