An examination of the philosophical, historical, and theoretical foundations of the concept of causal connection in Russian criminal law. Various theories of causality are critiqued. The author shows the connection of causality with other institutions of the core of criminal law, for example, nonfeasance, guilt, accompliceship. Much attention is devoted to defining causal connection in the operations of law enforcement agencies dealing with murder, health-injury, and automotive-transportation criminal cases.
