About This Book

The premise of this handbook is that all Christian communities have the potential to discover and express environmental concern. It aims to encourage anyone interested in theology and the environment to explore the wealth of material that is within the Christian heritage. Examples of different responses to the ecological crisis are taken from Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant and feminist perspectives. The fundamental question being asked is: How can Christian theology engage with ecological concerns in a way which takes into account recent developments in both theology and environmental issues? While this is a book written from the perspective of Christian theology, the intention is that those from other faith traditions will find it informative and useful as a basis for further collaboration. Each chapter is subdivided into a number of specific issues, with points for discussion highlighted in the text in order to emphasize areas which can be developed further by individual reflection or group work.
