About This Book

In this program zine for the Victoria Baths Fanzine Convention, Natalie Bradbury advertises stallholders, talks, workshops, two art installations. Natalie interviews Joe Biel, founder of Microcosm Publishing and director of "$100 & a T-Shirt: A Documentary About Zines in the Northwest US." Jacky Hall profiles Sunny Lowry, one of the first British women to swim the English Channel and Hall's connection to the Victoria Baths, a historic swimming pool and baths complex in Manchester, England. In an ode to historic swimming baths, Natalie curates quotations about people's memories of Victoria Baths from the Victoria Baths archive. Lastly, Natalie highlights three Manchester swimming baths that still operate today and encourages readers to visit the baths lest they get shut down from government spending cuts. The zine includes a calzone recipe from Deerly Loved Bakery, a vegan bakery in Norwhich who tabled at the convention, and the front cover advertises guest speakers including Dave Haslam as well as guided tours of the building. – Mikako
