About This Book

Cities and their histories and stories are a very important starting point for the development of Nadia Kaabi-Linke's (*1978) art. It is from them that the artist gathers traces, which she regards not only as vestiges of day-to-day urban life, but, above all, as concrete images for political-geographical circumstances and how they impact people. She documents the traces, interprets them, and transforms them in her studio into often sensual pictures, installations, and objects. In doing so, the artist employs very diverse methods as well as a broad spectrum of materials such as dust, coal, or gold. The design of the book takes into account this special relationship to materiality.
