INTRODUCTION
In the 1800's Michael Kolisnyk immigrated to Canada from Ukraine, settled in a small community in Manitoba, married Helen Zaretsky, I was the fifth child born in the family of seven. My challenge in writing my memories is to portray my journey based on my first memory to the present time in my eightieth year, highlighting many experiences along the way.
Regarding my health, I feel honored, have enjoyed eighty years of enjoyable living including a few health issues, would like to share my knowledge in caring for one's body by making the best health care choices, beginning at a very young age.
One of my hobbies and relaxation tools has been writing poetry, reflecting my thoughts of nature, love, and life. I am delighted to share a number of poems with my readers.
Mary lives in Florida with her husband Gordon Myers, is the mother of two children, Ranny and Denise. Her daughter Bonnie Sue passed away in June, 1997 from breast cancer. She is also the stepmother of five children, Cheryl, Wendy, Karen, Suzanne and Sandra. Mary and Gordon have a total of twelve grandchildren, Megan, Nicole, Michelle Powell, Kristy, Kim, David, Heather, Laura, Christopher, Kevin, Geoff, Michelle Turnbull plus two great-grandchildren, Zoe and Joelle. A third great grandchild David Gordon is expected around September 29, 2010
Mary's publications include a Children's Book, A HOLE IN THE SKY, a cassette of poems with background music, A REFLECTION OF LIFE'S SEASONS, plus a historical fiction novel, BEYOND THE WILDS, HELENA'S PURSUIT of FREEDOM.
