For almost six hundred years, Iceland was part of the Danish kingdom and their joint capital was Copenhagen. This book deals with the Danish national minority in Iceland during the period 1900-1970 and the influence of Danish culture and language on Iceland during the period when Danish authority over the country decreased while their cultural and economic influence was still considerable.
