About This Book

The book comprises the life story of the artist Guillermo Wiedemann (Wilhelm Egon Wiedemann, Germany,1905; moved to Colombia in 1946, d. Colombia 1986), expressed in his works, paintings, assemblies and the reproductions of one of his sketchbookes. The book is the outcome of close to five years of work achieving the photographic compilation of the works of the master abstract and figurative artist, considered by specialized critics as Colombiaœs first great modern painter. "This book takes us in a tour of William Wiedemann's artistic career, from some of his watercolors painted in the thirties, which the artist brought from Europe in his light luggage, to his last abstract works of the mid-1960s" (HKB Translation) --Page11. Includes full-page color reproductions of his pictorial works, mostly from the holdings of private (art galleries) and public institutions (Museo Nacional de Colombia, Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá (MAMBO), Museo de Antioquia, Museo La Tertulia, Fundación Gilberto Alzate Avendaño).
