This volume contains a series of studies on cultural history with emphasis on Transylvania during the XVI-XVIII Century. Written in Hungarian by József Spielmann, a professor of History of Medicine, the volume is a compilation of studies from early cultural emancipation of XVIth century Transylvania to the influence of XVIIth century trends in Western Europe on medical thinking in the region. The volume also focuses on several Hungarian and Transylvanian authors from the XVI- XVIIIth century who contributed with significant medical knowledge. These include, Pápai Páriz Ferenc, Köleséri Sámuel, Lencsés György, Weszprémi István, Mátyus István, Gecse Dániel, Szotyori József, Nyulas Ferenc, and others.
