About This Book
In the development of 101 California, Gerald D. Hines Interests worked closely with the city of San Francisco in order to identify needs of both the office community and the community at large. As a result of the city's participation in the project, additional allowances were made for pedestrians. Outdoor plazas were enlarged, more extensive landscaping was added and a café and flower stand were included. Philip Johnson and John Burgee were selected as architects for 101 California due to their reputation for designing structures of exceptional quality and architectural interest. In their design of 101 California, Johnson/Burgee met the challenge presented by Gerald D. Hines Interests and the result is a building which offers office space of uncomprising quality--Page [1]
